Litigation continues in patdown dispute

It's still up in the air if there will be patdowns at Sunday's game against the Panthers.

The Tampa Sports Authority decided Monday afternoon to appeal an injunction of the patdowns at Bucs' games at Raymond James Stadium.

The appeal is expected to be filed on Tuesday.

Judge Perry Little decided last week to suspend the controversial searches until the issue is resolved in court, even though the NFL requires the security procedure for fans entering stadiums to prevent terrorist threats.

Little said the threat of terrorism does not mean unreasonable searches and seizures should be allowed by law.

"9/11 was a tragedy in and of itself," Little said. "But it doesn't mean the constitution, in my opinion, should be ripped up and thrown out the door."

Plaintiff Gordon Johnston, along with the ACLU, is suing the sports authority to try to end the patdowns altogether.
