William Ferrie is charged with grand theft.
An employee of a bowling alley in Port Richey has been arrested and charged with taking lottery tickets from his employer.

Lane Glo Bowling of Port Richey noticed numerous scratch-off lottery tickets had been issued, but not paid for.

Bowling alley managers called the sheriff's office. After talking to 43-year-old employee William Ferrie, deputies charged him with taking the tickets. Investigation showed that about 30 books of tickets worth $65,000 were missing. Ferrie's winnings totaled only $1,000.

The sheriff's office said Ferrie took the tickets over a period of a six or seven months.

Detectives say Ferrie said he had a gambling addiction. Ferrie declined to comment for this story.
