Deputy-involved accident in Pinellas

A deputy-involved accident in Pinellas County has left a motorcyclist dead.

Investigators said 29-year-old Deputy Dennis Garvey was on routine patrol northbound on Seminole Boulevard. The motorcyclist, 50-year-old Charles T. Guarino, was making a left turn from southbound Seminole Boulevard onto eastbound Park Boulevard.

Both vehicles came to a stop in the northbound lanes of Seminole Boulevard, north of the intersection.

Garvey was taken to Largo Medical Centerl with non-life threatening injuries.

Parts of Park and Seminole Boulevard will be shut down for several hours so deputies can sort through the debris from the accident.

Drivers heading west on Park Boulevard will be detoured at Starkey.
